A Prince George taxi cab driver had a hunting knife held to his neck during an armed hold up by two suspects...

RCMP say officers were called to the vicinity of Ospika Boulevard and MacIntyre Crescent at approximately 11pm last night to investigate the robbery.

Constable Lesley Dix says the cab was originally called to Riley Crescent where the suspects entered the vehicle.  She says both suspects were armed and the driver was immediately threatened.  Constable Dix says when the driver refused to exit the cab, the suspects demand he drive them northbound on Ospika Boulevard where he was robbed of his money and the suspects fled on foot.

Constable Dix says the driver was not injured during the ordeal.  The Police Dog Service was called to the scene, but was only able to track the suspects a short distance before losing the scent in a nearby residential area.

RCMP are looking for two First Nations males in their mid-20’s.  One is described as being five-foot-10-inches tall, with a medium build.  He had a moustache and goatee and was wearing a black hoodie with a white stripe down the arm.

The second suspect is described as being about the same height and build with a thin moustache.  he was wearing a brown jacket with white track pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP at 561-3300 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Poor fellows must have been desperate, just wanted to feed their babies I'm sure.
I guess it is time for local cabbies to protect themselves by purchasing and installing a lexan shield. Too bad. We should not have to even consider such actions. A gentler, kinder world anyone?
