Name That Puppy
By 250 News
Can you think of a name that starts with the letter ’T’? If so, the RCMP advises you might be one of the lucky few to name one of 10 German Shepherd puppies born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta.
In a contest that opens today, the RCMP is inviting young people from across the country to submit their suggestions. In its 7th year, this popular contest generates thousands of entries from boys and girls nationwide.
The RCMP says, "Young people are encouraged to be original and imaginative in finding names that will serve these puppies well in their career with Canada’s national police force. When thinking of names, it’s important to keep in mind these are working police dogs, not pets."
Contest rules:
1. Contestants can only suggest one name (one entry per person)
2. The name may be for a male or a female pup
3. The name must start with the letter ’T’
4. The name cannot have more than nine letters
5. The name must be one or two syllables.
6. Contestants must be 16 years old and under
To enter, contestants must print their name, age, address, telephone number and the suggested name for a puppy on a postcard and mail it to:
Attn: "Name the Puppy Contest"
Police Dog Service Training Centre
Box 6120 Innisfail AB T4G 1S8
The contest deadline is February 22, 2007.
Good Luck!
