Mild, Dry Start To 2007, Followed By Snow
By 250 News
Environment Canada is out with its weather summary for the month of January.
Jim Steele says while 2007 got off to a mild and relatively dry start, with temperatures well above normal, arctic air returned with a vengeance on the 8th, followed by a major snowstorm on the 9th with close to 17cm blanketing the city.
Steele says the coldest day of the month was January 11th, with a chilly overnight low of -31 degrees.
The area was hit with another dump of snow between the 14th and 22nd, with close to 30cm of the white stuff.
Steele says, in the end, perception says it was a cold and snowy month. However, he says that’s not entirely true, with temperatures ending up just over three degrees above normal.
