CN Says Trains are Rolling Despite Strike

There is no change in the CN strike by 28 hundred conductors and  yard service workers  in Canada and the U.S. who are members of the United Transportation Union.

Contract talks broke of last Thursday, and  the strike started first thing Friday.

Yesteday CN Management issued a release saying the  Union's  contract demands were  "excessive".  According to  CN management,  the Union wanted a  three year contract that called for  a 13% boost in wages  broken down to  4.5 in the first year,  4.5 in the seond and 4% in the third.

That, says the company is 40% higher than the packages CN has already  negotiated  with other unions.

The railway says  freight service is still rolling, and that the railway network is "operating smoothly".

CN's Network doesnt operate very smoothly in this area when there isnt a strike, so I doubt it is now operating smoothly with a strike.

Only a matter of days before some business's will have to shut down because of a shortage of rail cars etc;
Can the oil sands projects absorb another 28 hundred people?
