Cavan Rawlings on the left, and Makenna Johns on the right,  ring their bells to draw attention to the placards they  are wearing

The two children in the photo  were among 100 people who gathered outside Deputy Premier Shirley Bond’s  Constituency Office on 5th Avenue in Prince George this afternoon.

The rally was to draw attention to the cuts in day care funding which will take effect  the first of July.  For many day-care operators, it will mean the loss of as much as two dollars per day per  child.  The care providers say the parents can’t afford to  pick up the difference and the day care providers cannot afford to absorb the loss, they fear they will have to close their doors.

"I have been an Early Childhood Educator since 1989" says  Christine Jackson "This is the  first time I can recall the government cutting funding."

Families may be getting some subsidy  from the Federal Government, but the  day care providers say it isn’t enough.

Deputy Premier, Shirley Bond was not available to address the protestors  as she was in Victoria for the opening of the spring sitting of the legislature.  A similar rally was held on the grounds of the Provincial Legislature this afternoon to coincide with the arrival of the Premier and the Lieutenant Governor.

Children aren't high priority in Canada
I think we stand about middle of the pack in the world with Holland and Sweden ahead of us?

How many times does it have to be said? Governments do not listen to protesters nor do they care about petitions. They are elected and do what they have to do, to their way of thinking. I sure as hell wouldn't want my city/province or country dictated by these yahoos. I am sure this protest accomplished something. So tell me.
