Two More Medals for Prince George Athletes at Canada Winter Games

The Canada Winter Games are once every four years and two Prince George judokas made the most of their appearance at the national competition. Mackenzie Cupp and Stefan Zwiers of the Prince George Judo club will return home with a pair of medals at the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon.  Cupp added a bronze medal to her individual silver medal as BC finished third in the team female judo competition. Quebec captured gold, Ontario the silver medal. Zwiers and his BC teammates captured the silver medal in the team male judo competition. Quebec won the gold, Manitoba upset Ontario for the bronze medal. Earlier this week, Zwiers earned a bronze medal in the individual competition. One of the BC coaches is Aline Strasdin of the Prince Judo Club.

In hockey, Dale Hunt of the Prince George Cougars and his Manitoba teammates captured a silver medal, dropping a 6-4 decision to Ontario in the final. Ryan Howse of Prince George was a member of team BC who loss 4-3 to Alberta in the bronze medal game. The Canada Winter Games are is the biggest multi-sport event in Canada.
