One person is  in hospital  following a serious accident on Highway 97 near Red Rock this morning.

RCMP say around 6:30 this morning, a southbound car pulled out to pass  other vehicles, but lost control on the icy roads.  The car  went off the right side of the road, shearing a hydro pole.  The lone occupant in the car was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  He has been taken to  PGRH  and is in serious condition.

The roads have since been sanded, and police are on the scene.  The  repairs to the hydro pole are to take place  later this morning and at that time police may have to  reduce traffic to one lane alternating .

We've all been in a hurry at times. I sure hope he'll be ok.
"...a southbound car pulled out to pass other vehicles, but lost control..."

Wouldn't need to pull out with a double divided highway. Especially between PG and Quesnel.

When are we getting that, anyway?
WE WILL HAVE MONEY FOR HIGHWAYS AFTER THE LAND CLAIMS ARE SETTLED. MANY MOONS FROM NOW.
Something to be said for seat belts I would say....
I doubt land claims will be settled anytime soon for a couple reasons. One, there are a lot of lawyers getting rich off the process and they want the gravy train to run a little longer, and secondly, the government is lending money to the First Nations involved. When you contantly delay the process and lend more money, eventually you have the First Nations over a barrel as they cannot pay for the loans unless they settle the treaty. The Nisgaa treaty took 30 years and when they signed it, they were $100 Million in the hole and pretty much would have signed anything.

IMO, the treaty process hasn't changed all that much since the days of the Beothuks.

But getting back to the accident. Let's hope that fellow is ok.

And like my dear neighbour used to say to me, "remember the lord only goes as fast as the speed limit!" he hehe
WE WONT BE GETTING ANY MONEY FOR THE HIGHWAY TILL THE WINTER OLIMPICS ARE PAID FOR.
Icy road conditions, not a good time to be in a hurry.
He wasn't wearing his seatbelt. Pity. Chester
Seems he may be one of the victims of an early start to daylight savings time. Had we set our clocks ahead as normal, it would have been light enough at 6:30 to see that the road was icy and he may not have passed under those conditions.
