Education Week A Winner for Some Schools

Education week got off to an award winning start for  one school in Prince George  It is among 8 province wide to be  given special recognition for one of it's programs.

Ecole  Austin Road  was recognized by  B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell  today as  being one of the schools in the province  that  demonstrated excellence and innovation in one of six key educational areas.

For Ecole Austin Road, the recognition is for its healthy eating program.

There were a couple of other schools in the  north and northwest who were also on the list of the top  eight,  they are:

  • Coast Tsimshian Academy in Prince Rupert for Aboriginal education
  • Nechako Valley secondary school in Vanderhoof for  Environment

In all, 94 schools were nominated by the principal, school district or member of the school community. Recipients were chosen by a panel made up of a student, teacher, parent, principal and superintendent.
