The Board of Governors for the University of Northern B.C. will meet today to look over, among other things, the University’s budget plan.

The Board will get an update on the cost cutting efforts. As of the end of February , eleven faculty had been offered voluntary buy out packages and admissions to four bachelor degree programs had been suspended. The Board will be asked to reverse the decision to suspend admissions to those programs but the final budget won’t be up for full approval until late June.

Also on the agenda ; a look at the enrolment and registrations for the September 2007 semester.  There will also be detailed discussions on the Northern Sport Centre.

The Board will be asked to approve agreements with the City of Prince George and Northern Sport Limited. Those agreements cover the capital costs and the operating costs.

When the business plan for the Sport Centre was initially presented, it indicated the annual operating costs would be in the $600 thousand dollar range. It is thought fees for renting the facility for major events, public user fees, public memberships and athletic fees will cover those costs.

The public session of the meeting gets underway at 1:15 this afternoon in the Bentley Centre at UNBC

I thought the operating budget of the NSC was $600,000 a year from UNBC, $600,000 from the city and then the remainder was up to NSC Limited company to come up with as they will be the operators and hopefully profit / break even generators of the facility ? They of course would be doing this through user fees, rentals, etc.
Guess will have to see how the meeting plays out for how two different groups will double dip the available people who will pay for the facility.
Double dip, HeeHee! How to keep in shape financially.
I can not believe they stayed in town...Would not 108 mile Ranch been a better place to have the meeting then here in PG
Wasn't in the budget Don. Chester
