March - Mild but Wet

Environment Canada says March 2007 will go in the books as mild but wet, even though it started off on a chilly note.
Jim Steele's monthly report is as follows:
TEMPERATURES
Mean Monthly Temperature 1.4 Normal -0.3
Mean Monthly Maximum 5.5 Normal 5.0
Mean Monthly Minimum -2.7 Normal -5.5
Warmest Day 12.3 degrees on the 29th
Records.. no records set when it comes to temperature or precipitation although we did see more rain and snow than normal:
Total Monthly Precipitation 42.1 mm Normal 32.7 mm
Total Monthly snowfall 28.0 cm Normal 22.9 cm
Total Monthly Rainfall 17.0 mm Normal 13.1 mm
Days with Measurable Precipitation 15 days Normal 12 days
Greatest precipitation in one day 15.4 mm (rain and snowfall water equivalent) on the 16th
The coldest day of the month also happened to be on the first full day of spring. Jim Steele says the milder air arrived towards the end of the month "With the warmest day occurring on the 29th. The proverbial lion showed up on the 31st with cooler air once again to finish off the month. The on again and off again milder air ended up winning the battle with the monthly average still coming in at just under 2 degrees above normal"
