For the second year in a row Keenan Hopson of Prince George came within two victories of returning home with an NCAA Division One Men’s Hockey championship. The 23 year-old Hopson and his Maine Black Bears teammates fell to Michigan State 4-2 this afternoon in the semi-final of the Frozen Four at the Scottrade Centre in St.Louis Missouri. Michigan State snapped a 2-2 tie with a pair of third period goals to advance to the championship game on Saturday against the winner between North Dakota and Boston College. Hopson, a centre-turned defenseman, completed his junior season with the Black Bears. Last year, Keenan and his older brother John Hopson, were the Prince George connection on the Maine team that dropped a 5-2 decision to Wisconsin in the semi-final of the Frozen Four. The Hopson brothers came through the Prince George minor hockey system and played their junior hockey with the Prince George Spruce Kings.
