The Prince George Cougars success just might mean a little shuffling during the RBC Cup.

The RBC Cup series will take place May 5 - 13th, it has been designed around the use of the CN Centre.

The Cougars just might need the ice during The RBC series.

“It is too early to say what the impact might be” says Prince George Leisure Services boss Tom Madden. “But there is a possibility the Cougars will need the ice at the CN Centre for one, maybe even two nights.”

There are some “ifs” before that would be an issue.

It hinges on “if” the Cougars beat Everett, and “if” the Cougar’s don’t have home ice advantage and “if“ the timing of the third round clashes with the RBC Cup.

At this point it would appear that if the Cougars make it through this round of the playoffs, they could need the ice at the CN Centre for two games during the RBC Cup. Madden says there would need to be some changes at the arena because a couple of sections of seating are being removed to allow for a lounge. “We would just have to put the seats back in , that’s all” says Madden.

He says the organizers of the RBC Cup and the Cougars would work together to see how they could make this a win-win situation. “A lot depends on when the third round would start and it is possible it could start earlier , it’s possible the games for the RBC Cup could be shuffled, there are a lot of options, but when it (WHL playoffs) gets down to four teams we will have a better idea of how things will shape up.”

Possible conflict aside, Madden says its very exciting to see the support for the Cougars and the RBC Cup. “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a coupe of parades to celebrate our two teams?”

Madden says the playoff fever is spreading “ It would be great to have the fans in such a positive hockey mood right at the time when we are hosting the RBC Cup, I know it will be a lot of work for us, but we welcome this kind of work.”

Awwwww..so sad.....
That sad story breaks me up....

Who cares...its fighting on skates...

Maybe they can line up one team on each blue line and throw insults at each other.

I can watch fighting for free any night on george street...
If I wanted to see fighting that is...
Yeah, yeah. We get it. You don't like hockey. Come up with some new lines, willya?
GF.............gotta look at the BIG PICTURE.............
Wrong HepCat, I do like hockey, but in my opinion that crap they are trying to pawn off on us isn't hockey..sorry...
If you like it, please, enjoy!
Not so much the RBC, as I have not seen one of their games but more so the cougars and the other pro and semi pro teams...
wish they would clean up the game ang go back to real hockey not WWE on ice...
I think if your a poorer player you then resort to fighting, as your tired of getting your ass handed to you in regular hockey by good players.
Instead of working on skills and getting better , they think fighting is the answer.
How many fights did you ever see the great #99 in?
Gretzky just skated around the losers and scored goals...he had no need to scrap because he had skills instead.
"wish they would clean up the game ang go back to real hockey not WWE on ice..."
What do you mean by back to real hockey? Like the hockey of the 60s and 70s?

Gofaster-you say you like hockey yet it sounds like you don't know want you want> Old style hockey without fighting?? Maybe you mean ringette. Anyone who is any kind of a hockey fan knows the comparison to WWE is far fetched. Fighting in the NHL is way down compared to the days of "the broadstreet bullies".
