Is the Powder Wet or Dry? One Man's Opinion

Are the stars lining up for a major flood in BC?

If you look at the snow pack in BC,  it looks to have all the ingredients of a major disaster in the making.

A few things however seem to be going in our favour at this time.

The snow came very early last fall with the result  there is very little frost in the ground and the snow melt could drain into the soil.

On the other hand, forests of dead trees suggest that they won’t need that moisture and it will have to go somewhere.

According to sources,  Alcan is set to release , 450 cubic meters of water  per second from the Skins Lake spill way,  that could have a major effect on the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako, Vanderhoof , Fraser Lake,  and the surrounding farms.

All of these predictions are no more than guesses because it all can change with a hot spell in May, corresponding with the high release volumes which would trigger a major problem.

We are sitting on a powder keg in BC this spring and early summer,  the only question that remains is whether the powder is dry or wet.

I'm Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

Ben, You should come to the meeting in Vanderhoof on Wednesday your take on Alcans reasoning would be interesting.
I saw the Cottenwood raise nearly a foot in one day on the weekend.

My question is how will the new under ground utility services hold up on Third avenue when it floods this spring? What about the gas mains downtown when the floods come through? Will the Teresan deal be such a good deal in the event floods cause problems with the system?
Hope everyone has insurance.
