Prince George RCMP are looking for the person who  fired shots at a home on Spruce Street early this morning.

Police say  they got the first call about  shots being fired at around 2:30 this morning. The caller said  they thought they had heard shots being fired around the  7-11 on 20th Avenue.  When police arrived on scene, they  heard two more shots  coming from Spruce Street so they cordoned off the area.

A police dog was brought in, and members of the Emergency Response Team assisted with the investigation.  They were able to confirm that a home on Spruce had been hit by gunfire,  but  so far, have not been able to identify the shooter.

The investigation continues.

Wow little ole PG has turned into such a sweet, warm and fuzzy town.........
Sounds like something out of the Trailer Park Boys.

This kind of BS has to come to a stop;, and the only way to slow it down is to put people in jail. I cant think of any other solution. Long term incarceration.
I wonder how long what's happening to Prince George will be ignored?
JAIL time.Lots of it!Only solution, and a few more cops that apparently city council doesn't think are needed.
How many extra gendarmes would the money for the new police station would buy? How many million was that again?
Sounds like an unpaid drug debt. Or the crew is trying to scare off some competition. Betch this home catches on fire soon...
PRESURE ON THE POLITICANS TO FUND MORE MONEY INTO THE JAIL SYSTEM AND THEN DEMAND THAT THE PANTYWAIST JUDGES CONVICT ALL THESE SCUMBAGS. THATS WHAT ITS GOING TO TAKE FOLKS. COPS ARE DOING THIER JOB BUT THEY HAVE NO SUPPORT FROM THE COURT SYSTEM.WHERE'S JUDGE BEGBEY (THE HANGING JUDGE FROM BARKERVILLE) WHEN WE NEED HIM.HE DIDN'T PUT UP WITH ANY $$HIT..
I had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a retired cop recently. We have had these discussions before around the campfire.
He told me that most cops actually have to detach themselves from the courts in order to do their job. They know that when these dirtbags get into the courtroom, chances are they will get a light sentence,if anything at all.Because of that, they have to separate the two issues. They bust them and after that,as much as they hate it,it's not their problem anymore.
He also said he had little use for most judges and lawyers. He got that way from too many years of watching these guys walk and re-offend only to get another light sentence.
But to him, like so many of us,the big question is WHY??
Alcohol and guns sometimes don't mix too well .... add potholes ... and one really needs to watch it.
giterdun,

may I send you the bill for my headache medication?
Question (1) The cost of the new Police Station if it is built this year is pegged at $21.5 Million. As far as I know this number does not include the cost of the property that the City bought in 2005 for $2,700,000.00.

Question (2) WHY do these offenders not get bigger sentences. The answer as far as I can tell is because the Provincial Government does not want all the jails filled with Prisoners, nor do they want to build new ones to hold Prisoners. The cost of incarcerating people is huge, and you get little or no political mileage out of it. So we leave them out of jail and the Taxpayers can foot the bills through break and entering, etc; and as we claim against our insurance company, our costs rise, but heh' it didnt cost the Government much.

Noticed a lot of people loitering around at Third and George Street this afternoon. (Around 5Pm) A fight broke out in the middle of the street, and was still in progress when I left the area, I suspect that things will get worse as the night progresses, and maybe someone will get killed. Police in that area were conspicuous by their absence. Its no wonder no one wants to go downtown to shop.

This area is an embarressment to our town, and guess what?? The Mayor and Council seem to care less. Maybe the Mayor should do a **Walkabout** and get involved in something besides, business investments, Gambling Casinos/Gaming, and World travel.

Had this incident taken place on a Friday night in the 50's or 60's the people fighting would have been thrown into the back of a *Paddy Wagon** and taken to jail. They would have been in jail from Friday night until Monday morning when they would have come up before a judge, and would have received a fine for being drunk and disorderly in a public place, and for disturbing the peace. Pay the fine or go to jail for 30 days would be your choices. Nowadays they dont even get picked up. Who wants to look after a drunk tank full of urinating drunks?

I have been told of instances where people have laid in the street (passed out) in the 3rd and George area for at least an hour before the Police came and picked them up.

We can spend Millions of Sport Plexes, Arenas, Universitys, etc; etc; etc;, however we cant seem to be able to clean up the City and try to get things back to some semblence of sanity.

This type of situation got out of control in Prince Rupert in the late 50's or early 60's and it became necessary for the Mayor to read the riot act, and the police and fire department turned the hoses onto the crowds to disperse them and bring some order to the situation.

Is this what we are waiting for?? Let the situation get completely out of control, before we do anything?
