The Federal Minister of Labour, Jean -Pierre B lackburn has introduced back to work legislation to  end the CN strike.

It is not clear just how fast Bill C-46 can  be passed or if there will be enough support  to give the Harper government the  majority  it would need to pass the legislation.

Last Friday, Federal Minister of Natural Resources, Gary Lunn  told   delegates to  the Council of Forest Industries conference  in Prince George the government would act "swiftly and decisively" to end the strike if there was no agreement reached.  Lunn said  the  government would not allow the national economy to suffer.

There is  turmoil within the United Transportation Union, and earlier today, CN offered to  negotiate regional contracts as  it  beleives the Union cannot  deliver a contract that would be nationally accepted.

So if the government comes along and orders back to work an legislates a contract, that is suitable to them,
why are there unions????
and what are they going to do about this???
oh right...
nothing!
at least my union bows under all the time!
If government and their friends don't like a group or union they can always do like BC. Pass retroactive legislation for wage reductions and anti union legislation. I agree Gofaster, most unions don't have gonads. Look what happened at Telus.
If the employees do not like it, they can leave and go find employment elsewhere.
Or if they think its so dang easy to run a railroad they should start their own.

I get tired of people wanting more and more , when they already have it good.
I started my own business when I got tired of working for other people....and these folks can do the same.
