The Prince George Fire Department was  dealing with a house fire  in the 800 block of LaSalle Avenue  last night, but ended up calling in the RCMP.  60 mature marihuana plants were located in the basement.

Police arrested a male resident of the home a short time later. The investigation continues.

Fire crews from two halls responded to eight dumpster fires overnight.  Most were in the area of Spruce Street from Strathcona to 17th avenue, but there was one  near the First Litre Pub,  two near the apartments, and another near the bingo hall downtown.

Police  figure the firebugs  were on foot or on bicycles.   Anyone with information is  asked to call Police at 561-3300 .
