The most recent national survey on volunteering, giving and participating found that Prince George residents are tops in the province when it comes to donating their time.

While the national and provincial rate of volunteering sits at 45-percent for those 15 and older.  Here in Prince George, the volunteer rate is a whopping 62-percent.

As part of National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Prince George chose the theme, "Volunteers Are A Treasure" to honour those who give their time so generously.  And a Volunteer Fair at Pine Centre Mall today will highlight 36 member agencies, non-profit organizations, that reap the rewards of local volunteering.

The fair runs from 9:30am until 9:00pm today and will feature a treasure hunt involving mall businesses.
