It’s Arbor Day!
It also marks the start of the third and final year for the ForesTree Fest plantings.
The tree planting program for this year kicks off this morning at the Prince George Railway Museum at  10 .
Today’s event will carry through till 2:00 this afternoon and will include  tours of Cottonwood Island Park followed by some tree planting activities and  refreshments.
In its first two years, the ForesTree Fest program has planted more than 4,000 trees of eight different species in City parks hit by the mountain pine beetle.
This year, seven parks and two green spaces are on the proposed planting site list.
After today, the schedule for planting events will be as follows:
  • May 12th Bednesti Park 10 am to 11 am
  • May 12th Alward Park 11:30 to 12:30
  • May 26th Pinecone Park 10 am to 11 am
  • May 26    Byng Park 11:30 to 12:30
  • June 3rd Cherry Park, 1-2p.m.
  • June 3rd  Highway 16 from the Casino to Ferry Avenue 2:-3:30 p.m.
