Alternate Approval Process for Cameron Street Bridge Funding

The Cameron Street Bridge is back before Prince George City Council this evening. Council will be asked to approve the “Alternate Approval Process” that must be used if the City wants to borrow nearly $6 million dollars for the project. If approved, the process will be launched on the 25th of May and close on the 25th of June.
5535 voters would need to register their opposition if the City is to be prevented from borrowing the money.
Also on the agenda this evening, details of the paving tender. Council will be asked to go with Columbia Bithulithic for a three year deal.
The United Steelworkers will make a presentation to Council asking the City to support a Natural Resource Policy. The Steelworkers are working on 6 recommendations to present to the Minister of Forests to save the forest industry.
In addition to a public hearing to allow the construction of a liquor store as part of the complex to be built at the corner of Ferry and Highway 16 West, Council will hear from a property owner who wants to subdivide a one acre lot at the corner of Greenwood and Kelly Roads . There is also a public hearing on a rezoning on Spruce Street.
And the Nechako River Boat Launch Project will be updated. The project is supposed to be handed over to the City on Tuesday.
