According to the  Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Gas Gouge meter:

"Your gas prices are 34.3¢ per litre above the normalized cost of 93.7¢ per litre in Prince George

With today’s crude oil price of $65.51 USD per barrel and the US dollar at $1.09 CAD, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in Prince George should be 93.7¢ per litre at normal profit margins.

At a price of $1.28 per litre, you are paying 34.3¢ per litre in pure excess profit. Across Canada, an extra margin of 34.3¢ per litre generates an additional profit of 34.3 million dollars per day."

Whatever Nothing can be done until goverment steps in
And how much of the cost of our fuel is tax?

I am realizing our government is raping us, day in and day out. Just add it up. The amount of taxes we pay makes me sick. Chester
This isn't about taxes anymore, sure they are high. The oil companies have a captive audience. They know we need fuel and they know the government likes it's tax profit, and they know there is absolutley nothing we can do about it other than perhaps switching to hybrids or propane, or alcohol fuels.
Alcohol fueled cars, not bad idea. That way the officer can't tell if it's me or the car that smells like beer!
guess we just have to drive less and pay more. Funny how times change though. Funny how become the government changes you. When they were in opposition they were all for the gasoline tax cuts but somehow when you become the government it somhow not the right thing to do.

Drive less, drive electric bikes in town, compact cars, bus, etc Truck based economy here in PG (pickups included) and the oil companies know it !!!
The price changed to $1.29.9 in Kelowna and area last Friday. Same in Kamloops today. A bit less in Summerland, but same in Penticton.
Why? Because they can. Stations say they can't do anything about the rise in prices, the oil company calls them telling them to raise the price.

I wonder what would happen if all stations in B.C. got together and said no, we are not raising prices. What is the oil company going to do? Shut them all down? I doubt it. It may put us on a price at par with he rest of Canada. $1.06 p/l in Toronto, sure taking us in B.C. for a ride.

I think that everyone who has to drive to work should stay home on Friday the 25th. I am quite certain that the governments will become quite aware of our protest to high gas prices when there are no doctors, no nurses, no store clerks, no clerical staff etc.... showing up for work. Sure many businesses would have to close their doors that day but imagine the chaos when there are no services available. The sky appears to be the limit for the oil companies. I believe that they will be the ones to break the economy.
Where along the chain of oil owner through extractor, refiner, various deliverers, to final retailers at service stations is the "excess" profit taken? All along it?
I agree with Ragtop - stop complaining and DO something! Stop purchasing gas. Can you imagine the chaos with no gas purchases for a week?

Friday th 25th, everyone take a day off! Great idea.
Like everything else in this life, these days. It is everyone's fault and no ones fault. Seems to fit everything. Works fer me.
I will not vote for any incumbant politician of any party after this gas price farce they allow to happen on their watch.
I am with Chadermando on this.
I am keeping a tally of political opinions on issues like gas prices, pay raises,Olympic cost overuns,(which I believe we won't hear about until after the Olympics)Pine Beetle issues, and Gordo's total arrogance toward the public.
Oh ya...and Carole Jame's low profile and lack of performance of any kind.
Those politico's who choose to keep quiet on any of these issues will not be getting my vote.
And I will strongly urge others not to support them either.
and don't even get me started on the Federal government!
