There is good news on the flood situation.

The  River Forecast Centre says the peak on the Fraser through Prince George will  hit  today, and unless  there is a significant rainstorm , this should be the  highest  it will get  this  year.  "We expect the river to plateau at a level of 9.9 metres, and hold  over the weekend,  until the middle of next week." says Allan Chapman of the River Forescast Centre.  " There is not enough snow left to create a flow larger than what we have already experienced."

That means it will be at least another week to 10 days before   people will be  able to return to their homes on Ferrell Street.

The worst seems to be in the Skeena region where  the  water levels are expected to stay at the current raging height until the middle of next week.  \Along the Bulkley,  that river is producing  the largest flow in 78 years, and will stay that way  for another week or so.

There has now been a flood warning issued  on the Liard impacting some communities south of the Yukon border.

Throughout the province ther are  currently  8 declarations of  local states of emergency, 9 evacuation orders in effect, and 11 evacuation alerts have been issued.  In all,  130 homes have been evacuated,  with another 1100 under  alert.
