The Skeena is still raging, the Fraser is high, but both rivers  are  not expected to  see  any further icrease in their flows unless there is a major change in weather.

Not so for the Bulkley.

In Telkwa and Smithers,  the Bulkley is raging.  A total of  39 homes  are either on evacuation alert, or have been ordered  to be evacuated.

Provincial Emergency Program reps have been  advising people to stay away from the river  banks  as  it is difficult to see  what kind of damage the river is doing to the  bank  beneath  the  water.  In the case of  this  bank along the Bulkley,  caution tape has been set up because of the obvious instability  of the  bank ( submitted photo)

Sandbagging  has been  the order of the week in Telkwa and in Smithers.  The Provincial Emergency Program says it has  shipped 4 million sandbags throughout the province, including 170 thousand to the northwest.

The Provincial Emergency program also indicates there  is a barge ready to  head to  Prince Rupert with whatever supplies are  needed, however that is little consolation to  some trucking companies which  complain there are already shortages in Kitimat, and there is no  land link between Terrace and Prince Rupert because of flooding.

One trucking company reports there are fuel  shortages in Kitimat,  and   there are concerns people may be  hoarding  supplies.
