Changes Made to Cameron Street Bridge Engineering Payment Plan
By 250 News

The City of Prince George is very close to announcing who will have the contract to design the new Cameron Street bridge.
The City’s purchasing agent has requested that City Council revise the spending plan for engineering services for 2007 and 2008.
The original spending plan called for $600 thousand dollars to be spent on engineering services including the “as-constructed” drawings. The City staff thought the split between this year and next would see $250 thousand dollars spent in 2007, and the balance of $350 thousand paid out in 2008. Staff now say the request for proposals indicate the larger portion will have to be paid in 2007. Staff ask that the City revise the spending plan to have $420 thousand spent this year, and the balance of $180 thousand paid to the engineering firm in 2008.
Council has approved the change, however the change will only take place if the alternate approval process wraps up with a result that does not prevent the City from borrowing the money needed to construct the bridge.
