Accident Closes Highway For 2.5 Hours

Emergecy crews have one person on stretcher ready to take them to hospital
A motor vehicle crash on Highway 97 north about 5 kilometers south of Bear Lake brought the highway to a standstill this afternoon.
Officials on the scene say shortly after 3:00 this afternoon, a car heading northbound, crossed the centre line, missed a southbound pick up but hit the trailer it was towing,.
There were two people in the car, one has been sent to Prince George Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries. There were three people in the pick up, they were not hurt.
As a result of the crash, the highway was closed in both directions for close to two and a half hours.
This is the second crash to have occurred on the Highway near Bear Lake in less than 12 hours.
Earlier today, a moose ran into the side of a car about 27 kilometers south of Bear Lake. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries, the moose died. The vehicle was so badly damaged it had to be towed from the scene.
