There was  virtually no discussion to the request that would allow the Royal Bank to  build a new branch  on the property  outlined in the map  above.

The problem is that under current bylaws, there are limits to the total amount of space  that could be  used for financial, insurance, and health related facilities in a  complex.

The Royal Bank  wanted to put in a new branch on that site,  but the size it wanted, would be over the allowable limit as the site is already home to  an insurane office and pharmacy.

Having recently allowed an expanded  facility for the Integris Credit Union ( to be built at the River Point Shopping Centre at Ferry and 97), Council also gave the Royal Bank  permission for an expanded  branch.

The Royal Bank's plan will not result in the closure of any other faciities in the city,  and will be in addition to the new facility being constructed  at the Pine Centre Mall
