Constable Joseph Slemko is scheduled to testify at the  Coroner’s inquest into the police shooting of Ian Bush, Thursday morning.

The lawyer for the Bush family, has already  said Slemko’s report concludes that given the pattern of blood,  the shooting  could not have happened the way Constable Paul Koester has stated.

The Bush family’s lawyer had tried to have Slemko’s re-enactment of the events  included, but the Coroner, Shane DeMeyer  said Slemko's evidence must be limited to his area of expertise, which is blood patterns, not crime scene re-enactment.

Today,  two Corporals from North District will be testifying at the inquest in Houston.  Corporal Chris Knight is scheduled to take the stand first, and will be followed by Corporal Rick Murray of the Major Crimes Unit.  The next witness will be Rita Dreher, OCC, RCMP Dispatch.

22 year old Ian Bush was shot to death in the Houston detachment in October of 2005.  He had been taken into custody for having an open beer, and for giving police a false name.

"his area of expertise, which is blood patterns, not crime scene re-enactment"

From what point of view does he look at blood patterns? as pieces of art? Or as information leading to crime scene re-enactment?

Testimony - the shot was fired from here.

response from expert - not possible since the blood spatter would be differnt.

question - so where would the shooter have to be?

response from expert - over there

coroner - jury is to disregard that since it goes to crime scene re-enactement. The expert has no expertise in that area.

question - would you say that the .pattern is more consistent with a shooter being there.

Response from expert – no

Question – how about here

Expert – not quite

Question – here?

Expert – getting warmer

Question – so here then?

Expert – almost

Question – so it must be here

Expert – bingo! You hit the nail on the head.

;-)
that makes perfect sense to me owl!!
Our justice system is a joke.
Drug dealers (aka filth) get away with far more than the average citizen ever would, and the police are above the law. It is obvious, they police themselves. Mr. Bush should not have died for his crime(s)
As I have stated here before, I believe the young constable made a series of errors which led to him accidentally shooting Ian Bush. The problem is, he will not admit to whatever it is that he did, or did not or should have done, and the police establishment is looking out for one of their own. It never changes. Canada has multiple justice systems. Which one applies to you depends on who your friends are, and what colour your skin is. I am not a racist, merely stating the facts as I see them.
metalman.
When listening to Constable Paul Koester recording, to me it sounds like a person in a panic because he knows he did something that went terribly wrong. I believe he initiated the violence and Constable Paul Koester with every other cop involved with the cover up should be charged. Will that happen, no way. We are degrading to a third world police force.
And we all know what the outcome will be...!
I agree with seamutt. It sounds just like a desperate cry for help as if he was really trying to say, "I didn't mean for this to happen, somebody help me change it back."
