By 250 News
Another sombre day for Canadians as another 6 Canadian soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan.
The names of the 6 and their Afghan interpreter have not yet been released. They died when the vehicle they were in hit an explosive device south west of Kandahar.
According to the official release, the incident occurred while the soldiers were returning from conducting joint operations with the Afghan National Army.
"This joint operation was dubbed Operation LUGER and is indicative of the ever-increasing capability of Afghan National Security forces. Operation LUGER was an Afghan led operation to enhance security in the Panjwayii district that saw Canadian Forces troops play a supporting role to their Afghan counterparts. The operation was completed without incident, and the attack occurred as the patrol returned to a nearby forward operating base."
The release continues:
"The members of Joint Task Force Afghanistan are deeply saddened by the loss of these brave individuals as they worked side by side with their Afghan counterparts to bring security and stability to southern Afghanistan.
We will not be deterred by the efforts of those who would deny the Afghan people a brighter future."

Strange way to lead a successful mission - get 6 people killed on the way home.
Isn't that sort of like saying that the party successfully climbed Mt. Everest, but they died on the descent?
I do not think a mission is successful and completed until everyone is back in their home base and sleeping in their bed soundly.
Keep putting a positive spin on this to keep our guys and gals over there longer so that more of them will get killed.
Sounds to me like nothing much is secure for very long.
