Jump At The Pumps

While the temperature outside soars, prepare for some news that's sure to make your internal thermometer heat up as well...

After almost one month of paying $1.149 per litre for regular gasoline, the price at the pumps has jumped five cents to $1.199.

According to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives' Gas Gouge Meter, we're paying 21.8-cents per litre above the normalized price of gasoline.

If there is any comfort to be taken, it's that today's price is still not as high as the $1.279 we were paying just before the May long weekend.

Usually prices are 10 cents more per liter than Abbotsford/Chilliwack. Now there is a 20 cent spread. Welcome to the "Heartlands"
The prices are 10 cents lower in Quesnel and the gas gets trucked from here ! I think the gas retailers here are just so enjoying ripping us off. Well from now on I am driving down to Hixon, getting cheaper gas, have a snack and visit the locals and come back. Makes for a nice trip and so sick and tired of the local retailers.
Bend Over Prince George! It's summertime and the gas companies are here to feast on your wallets!
Gas up at Canadain tire and you get 5 cents a litre back, then buy a gift card wirh your Canadian tire money. Then use it to buy gas.
Much as we may be getting gouged, I have been watching the prices of crude oil and they have gone up almost $10 a barrel in the last short while. So I am not surprised to see the prices go up...
Not happy about it, but not all that surprised either.
I was actually expecting it for the Canada Day weekend. I was shocked that they did not start sticking it to us then. So were a lot of people I talked to. Have a nice summer.
Yesterday before noon, price in Quesnel 112.9 cents/litre at north end of town.

Afternoon price: 119.9 cents/litre.

Hixon was still 112.9 at that time - how can gas be 7 cents a litre cheaper in Hixon than in Prince George?

Oh, Hixon must have a bigger refinery than Prince George and the gas doesn't need to be trucked in from 120 km away.

Makes sense, doesn't it?
I'd still like to hear how the retailers justify everyone raising their prices on the same day. Did they all get shipments of higher priced gas in on the same day? Of course not. I pray for the day when we have an alternative and the oil companies must beg us for our business again.
Ruez, there is an alternative, walk or ride a bike.
There is no doubt we are getting hosed, but when you put politicians and oil companies together, you just know your going to get it in the end.( no pun intended)
And there is not a damn thing you can do about it,except try to buy as little as possible and holler loud and long at our so called "ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES"!!
I always they thought they were supposed to be looking after our best interests...ya right,...silly me!
I guess they need those taxes to pay for such oversights as the Convention Center in Vancouver...$880,000 million plus for something that nobody here in the north will see any benefit from and their nice fat raises, in spite of what the they tell us!
Don't you just love Gordon Campbell now?
And then they will also need all that fuel tax revenue to help cover the overruns on the Olympics as well!
Going to be an interesting next 3 years!
lol Andy. Yes looks like an "at home" summer vacation.
Hey Andy I tried to get ahold of our so called "representatives", they all ignored my call....
I guess they are too busy trying to decide out how to "do" us even more or figuring out where to spend that nice((((little)))) pay raise they gave them selves.
You got it Gofaster!
I get about the same results to the emails that I send just to let them know that we are not as stupid as they like to think we are!
I guess they have us on "IGNORE".
The only time they will be interested in listening to us is at election time when they are looking for votes.
Damn few of them will be getting any of my support!
And now that I think about it,where the hell is Campbell hiding lately?
Keeping a very low profile after ripping off those big fat pay raises I think!
Hi Andy, ... "Don't you just love Gordon Campbell now?"

Yes, about as much as I love my hemorrhoids. (Am I allowed to say that?)

Hope he enjoys his vacation because we sure the heck aren't going anywhere!

They keep giving themselves raises (at our expense) while we're struggling to keep groceries on the table. Nice government.

lol ChrisAnnB :) love you!!!!! Yeah, you know if I actually knew who I could trust i'd start voting. It all confuses me. Hard to look them in the eye through the tv set.
Well, Heidi, I sure the heck didn't vote for Campbell and I'm not sure his eyes would be any less shifty in real life than on tv lol.

It's really hard to know who to trust ... just have to go with your gut instinct.

Love you too. :)

jeez.....I love when you guys talk dirty!
:-) :-)
She's my mom :)
"Ruez, there is an alternative, walk or ride a bike."

While that may be an alternative for some, we're not all physically capable of doing that.

And who wants to walk that extra 10 miles a day when they're already on their feet all day at work? Not me!
