Beat The Heat

These two city women have the right idea!

Blue blazers.  Scorchers.  No matter how you slice it, we’re in the middle of a heat wave.

The mercury is expected to rise to 35-degrees Celsius today.  The only reprieve might be that Environment Canada is calling for a few clouds along with today’s sunshine.

Shelley Bunting (left) and Mary Ann Joynt (right) had the right idea yesterday afternoon as they cooled off in the front yard of a residence in South Fort George.

The pair was thoroughly enjoying the sunshine, while sipping cool drinks.

Environment Canada is calling for another repeat tomorrow, with the forecast high again pegged at 35-degrees.

And the high pressure ridge looks to hold through the weekend with nothing but sunshine in the forecast for Saturday and the temperature set to reach 31-degrees.

Maybe slightly more manageable is Sunday’s high of 28, with a few cloudy periods.

It is expected that all the usual haunts city residents seek out to stay cool will be busy in the coming days.  The Waterspray Park is one such place, where both kids and adults seek out the spray to beat the heat.

Riverboating is another pastime that is all the more enjoyable when the weather becomes oppressive and you need a breeze through your hair.

Of course, for those less inclined to take to the big waterways in and around the city, there may be the chance to create your own, albeit smaller, splash...

As shown by the youngster in the photo below, who’s kicking up a stream of his own.

Great picture of the kid on the bike
Wow, I could almost be a Southern Californian if I listen to the media. We are having a "heat wave" as opposed to some hot or scorching summer weather. We might even have "wild fires" as opposed to forest fires. See you around the pool for a few cool beverages, y'all.
