Preventing Mann's Medals From Being Shopped Globally

The Executive Director of The Exploration Place says efforts have been made to prevent four gold medals, stolen from the museum at the end of May, from being sold internationally.
Yesterday, a $5000.00 reward was posted for the safe return of local sports legend, Harold Mann’s, boxing medals. (click here for previous story)
The museum’s, Tracy Calogheros, says, "We’ve registered all of the artifacts with the Art Loss Registry out of New York, so if they show up at auction anywhere, they have to clear this registry prior to being allowed to go on to international auction."
"Black market, of course, wouldn’t worry so much about that," says Calogheros, "But we do have a series of searches set up now on Ebay and any other places where these kinds of auctions happen."
She admits the internet is a big place that is hard to police, "But we’ve taken all of the precautions we can on that front."
The Exploration Place Executive Director says the medals may no longer be with the person who stole them and she’s hoping the reward will act as an incentive to anyone who may be holding them.
"Hopefully, someone will decide that rather than keep a trophy in their basement, they’d rather trade it in for the cash reward."
