Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm warning for the Prince George region.

According to the agency's website, "This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds."

Smithers and Terrace have been under similar warnings for most of the day and the system is moving in across the Bulkley Valley Lakes District.

Wind gusts near the actual thunderstorm could hit 90-kilometres per hour.

While out capturing the picture above, the storm could be seen moving in along the Nechako with plumes of steam rising from the water, as seen in the picture at right.

The current temperature in Prince George is 35-degrees, obliterating the previous record of 27.8 that was set back in 1952.

The forecast is calling for another hot one tomorrow with a high of 32 and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The picture below shows the change in the skyline in the five-minute time span Opinion250 staff was on-scene.
