Ron Brent Neighbourhood Target Of Scam

Prince George RCMP are warning residents living near Ron Brent Elementary School that there is no fundraising campaign underway for a new park at the school.

Police say a trio of young girls is apparently preying on the neighbours' sense of community by appealing for money for the new playground in a door-to-door campaign.

Constable Peter Hutt says discussions with school officials have confirmed no such fundraising effort is underway.

At this time, Hutt is appealing to anyone in the neighbourhood who may have handed over money, or with information on this scam, to phone the Prince George Detachment at 561-3300 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
