The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is currently developing an emergency response and recovery plan. It is hoped the full plan will be completed by January of 2006. The Regional District’s plan is meant to compliment the emergency plans of the municipalities within the District’s boundaries

In an update to Prince George City Council, the District noted it has reached an agreement with the Kitimat/Stikine region to provide 9-1-1 service.

The contract, in expanding the base for 9-1-1, also expands the financial options and creates a base for funding for equipment.

Regional District Representatives advised that the building boom that is happening in Prince George is rippling out to the region with housing starts up 29% over the same period last year, and with development at $7 million, that’s a two million dollar increase over last the same period last year
