As news of new mineral discoveries spreads, there appears to be a “rush” of claims being staked throughout the area known as the Quesnel Terrane.
One of the companies which has staked several areas, and is behind the recent copper-gold prospect known as “Kwanika” near Mount Milligan, is now partnering with another company to do some more detailed research..
Serengetti Resources has entered into a 50-50 venture with Fjordland Exploration Inc. together they will soon start gathering data on eleven properties on which they have registered claims.
While GeoScience B.C. has launched its $5 million dollar survey of the trough from Williams Lake north to Mackenzie-Ft. St James, (see previous story) that survey will involve mapping data on a fly-over grid with a 2-4 kilometer spacing.
The detailed survey being done by the Serengetti-Fjordland partnership ( called Quest JV) will be conducted with spacing of just 250 metres. “That will give us a far more detailed survey” says David Moore, President of Serengetti Resources.
The properties cover 950 square kilometres and are within the trough which is thought to hold a great deal of mineral promise. The prospects are so good, that since June, more than 400 thousand hectares of new lands have been registered for mining claims
The new technology being used to collect data allows scientists to “see through” the glacial till which has challenged conventional exploration. David Moore says he is very optimistic about what will be found “It would be really surprising in this belt, if there weren’t another couple of deposits found.”
The detailed study will start this month and carry on into September.
