Provincial Finance Minister Carole Taylor

Provincial Finance Minister Carole Taylor wore re-soled shoes to deliver her first budget. Although it was a “mini” budget, it carried some good news. Here are just a couple of the highlights:

Revenues are up 1.47 billion more than expected, (due mostly to energy sales) that leaves the province with a 1.3 billion dollar surplus.

Corporate tax will be cut by 1.5%

Spending announcements were limited, but the Finance Minister did commit to putting $100 million towards Mountain Pine Beetle efforts over the next three years

The Government also pledged $242 million dollars for Seniors over the next three years, of that amount,
$150 million will go towards new beds and facilities.
$50 million is earmarked for supplemental income payments
$42 million is for rental assistance.

hey , why not quit jerking the teachers around then carole, give them some money. they work hard.

later........
So glad to see the big business buddies of Gordo get another tax break while the working people get zip. Such a surprise. Let them eat cake.
Ah yes....as usual the rich get richer the middle person screwed and the poor get poorer, typical Liberal government.
There should have been more or all of the surplus going to pay down the debt. It has to be people without children who don't want to pay down their debt. What's with the teachers? The classes are getting so small the classes could be held in the teachers living room!
That is precisely why teachers need more money, to allow them to buy houses with larger living rooms.

I am glad to see people are starting to see the benefits of homeschooling.
