Industry spokespeople say the $100 million dollars the Provincial Government has pledged towards the beetle problem in BC, is just a fraction of  what is needed.

Two mill operators from the Prince George region say that when you drop $35 million a year into the area, it ends up being quickly diluted.

One operator, who would only speak on the condition that he would remain unnamed, added  “Governments of all levels just don’t seem to realize what kind of problem we are heading for come another seven to ten years."

Earlier this week, Conservative Leader Stephen Harper said if his party is elected to office they will anti up $100 million a year over ten years to fight the problem.

The Federal Liberals have not announced any program as yet, although Prime Minister Paul Martin is to address the Municipal convention and is expected to speak on the issue at that time.

imagine that , not enough dough for the north. surprise surprise, the heartlands looking like the wastelands.

later............
Let the beetles have the wood!!
Nobody knows how to stop them???
So what is all the fuss about???
Cut them down and use them to heat the streets in this city.
They will be considered waste-so waste them.
At least warm up some government buildings.
That's the solution-now just follow it through.
And stop all this nonsense!!!
