Will Wallace Try Again?

Former Quesnel Mayor Steve Wallace says he is still looking over his options as to whether to seek office in the coming civic election.

With the addition of Councilor Dalton Hooker facing incumbent Mayor Nate Bellos, Wallace feels that he must look carefully at his chances.

Failing the possible run at the Mayor's job, Wallace says "In view of the fact I live in the Regional District now, I could run in the Regional District."

He concluded by saying that he still feels strongly about Quesnel, “Since I left office" he says, "Quesnel hasn’t been on the map."

Yessir-that Wallace has an ego alright. A full blown one-but he is back on track.
He made waves in Quesnel, and people paid attention.
His dealing with the residents definitely was divided with a love-hate relationship, but they were all forced to think anyhow.
Not the same with Nate Bello-so the city sleeps!!!!
Well, Steve, give Quesnel a "wake up" call.
Nothing ever scared you before-so why stop now???
One leaves no footprints in the sands of time if one sits on the seashore waiting for a ship to come in!!!
So don't roll over and play dead.
Pull up your socks and get back in the race!!!
Good luck.
I have to agree with you on that one.
Wallace put Quesnel on the map all right…as the laughing stock of BC. Wallace showed other communities how not to do things, with his behind the scenes deals. Imagine using taxpayers money to pay $1.5 million more for property than what the property owner was asking.

Wallace lost his leadership of the City of Quesnel, the people did not elect him as the representative of the Federal Liberal Party and he lost when he ran for the Provincial Liberals. Wallace lived at Bouchie Lake even when he was Mayor of Quesnel so to state he just moved out of the city is another one of his fabrications. Can anyone believe this guy? Should have seen him debate the issues with Bob Simpson, MLA…didn’t hold a candle to Bob and I used to think Steve was a good speaker. Steve can speak well but what often comes out of his mouth is not well researched or even the facts.
stevie sounds like a dreamer to me, ran provincially, got smokes and now he wants his ol gig back? get a life dude. hey kinsley pay attention, now you see what happens to old haggered mayors who think they are bigger than real life.

See-what can I say?? Love-hate!!!!!
I am well aware of the fact he messed up on a number of issues, and paid the price.
At least he is not just a fence sitter!!!
If you believe our Mayor and council are up to snuff-then you are in "la la" land.
We will be blessed shortly with "running commentaries on how "great they are," and what they have for "visions" for our future, but basically they don't even know why they are there, except for the money and what they consider prestige.
What changes have any of them made to improve this city- and I mean a change where they have "stood up to be counted."
Put your hands together for???
Oh hell, I can't think of anybody!!!
Can you????
gypsy you have finally said someting that makes sense. i agree 100% that the only reason any of these coucillors are there is for the "prestige" as you termed it. they think that they are somebody because they are a councillor. it is a bumbuudy contest. whoever can muster up the greatest # of friends to come out and vote for you wins. a complete joke. none of these people wake up in the middle of the night and wonder how they can make p.g. a little better.

One thing we do NOT need is more confrontational municipal politics as it was when Steve was in charge. But from what I've seen of Councilor Hooker that is exactly what we'd get with him.

While I didn't always agree with Pat M's ferocity in dealings with Wallace, it was due often in part to Steve's tyranical and "mayor-knows-best" attitude.

Mayor Bello (sp!) has been a refreshing change in the scene. Sure we aren't always the top news story in the province, but do you notice even on this website how few times Quesnel is being drug through the mud or accused of mis-dealings or worse? Nate has shown a knack and an interest in dealing rationally and fairly with his constituents.

I fear that Councilor Hooker or Mr. Wallace would be good step for the local newspaper reporters, but I think a terrible choice for the city itself.
I, for one, like Pat. She takes things "head on" and fears not any backlash.
She is a Davey Crockett,
"Make sure you are right-then go ahead."
Ron seems to have slipped into the good old rut-maybe some scare tactics got to him????
That surprised me!!!!
I thought he had the courage of his convictions!!!!
Wrong!!! Disappointing.
Oh well, I am glad they got the tourist trains.
Quesnel will do a good job of promoting the city, and rise to the challenge of keeping it clean and beautified.
Unfortunately, I do not expect to see a very exciting election.
I hope they are not stricken with those stupid so called "Visions."
Funny how people get carried away with the stupidest expressions.
I want to see "action" and they can
stuff the "vision."
Know what I mean????
