Oh .. I love That Sausage! One Man's Opinion

By way of background, a couple of weeks ago I made a trip through Alberta and having heard about the famous Mundare sausage, made a special trip into the community to pick some up.
The town is so proud of the fact that they are the, “Sausage Kings” the symbol for the community is a giant kolbasa, about 30 feet tall, right in the town square. The companies name is Stawnichny’s and they are known country wide.
I thought I had struck gold. Well that was until I went into Rogers Custom Meats on 1st Ave the other day.
I had a chance to do a tour of the place with owners Trent and Lori Keim. Trent said |Give this sausage a try" and he ripped me off a good chunk. I saw his staff taking some bacon out of the smoker and I knew it had to be fresh, it after all was still hot and smelled too good to pass up, so I grabbed a bit of bacon as well.
Now back to where I began, I don’t consider myself to be a connoisseur of food, but by God I do know a good piece of sausage when I taste one, and even if my Doc says keep out of the bacon , I still like my bacon and eggs at least once a week.
That sausage, Trent and Lori, is to die for. I have nearly eaten the whole piece (about 8 pounds) in the past week, the bacon is gone.
My point is this, we have a winner in this city, Rogers Customs Meats, and if you haven’t been there, trust me, you won’t believe the results. They do upwards of 2,000 pounds of sausage every week, which indicates to me that a lot of you folks have known about them long before I came along.
He also showed me his beef. Trent buys his beef this week and lets it hang for another week to give it some ageing.
It’s rather funny, you sometimes go far a field looking for something just a cut above what everywhere else sells in the way of food and low and behold the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is right around the corner.
Give it a try and remember to let me know.
I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.
