Canada's Best Female Hockey Players Coming to Prince George

Get set for the International Women’s Hockey Fall Festival!

85 athletes, coaches and team staff are in Prince George for the 10 day event which will see many of the  stars from Team Canada’s Women’s Hockey hitting the ice to take on Sweden!

Hayley Wickenheiser, Vicky Sunohara, Valelrie Chouinard, Jennifer Botterill, Jayna Hefford,  Jennifer Wakefield and Sami Jo Small will  be  in town  for the event.

Team Canada will be split into red and white squads to take on Team Sweden and the Cariboo Major Midget Cougars.  The game schedule will act not only as a training camp for Team Canada, but an evaluation camp as well.

All games will take place at the Coliseum with the first match up set for Sunday September 2nd when Canada Red, takes on Canada White at 7 p.m.

On Monday, Sweden hits the ice at 4 p.m. as they take on Canada White, then Monday night, the Cariboo Cougars are up against Canada Red beginning at 7:00.

The International Women’s Fall Festival allows Hockey Canada staff to evaluate players for the 2007 -08 season and sets the stage for the next three years, culminating with the 2010 Olympics.

Tickets for the festival are $5.00 each, and the gold medal game on September 8th will be $7.00 per ticket.   Tickets are available at Studio 2880.  They are also available on game day at the Coliseum.

Awesome...great work by a bunch of dedicated volunteers (mostly - one or two paid staff as well) who have made this happen! Nice to see Prince George starting to attract more and more of this type of calibre attractions.
This is awesome. My niece I think will play for team Canada one day if she sticks with it and this will be great exposure for her.
