A young man is facing a possible charge of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public after Prince George RCMP responded to complaints about a man taking pot shots at people with a paintball gun.

Police say they entered the apartment building on Queensway, the site of the complaint, and spotted two males and a female in the stairwell.  One male was carrying a paintball gun the other male was carrying a hammer.

The young man in possession of the paintball gun was arrested, taken to cells, and released a short time later.  He is to appear in court at the end of October.

What happened to the hammer guy? Sounds like the more dangerous weapon to me.

Cheers
He was the one detaining the guy until the police arrived.
And "she" was a cheerleader?
she was the one who called 911 on her cell.....

You can drive while on a cell phone, but you cannot pay attention in a stand off situation while phoning at the same time and thus dropping your guard just enough to be overpowered ....

;-)
I wouldn't call a paintball gun vs. a hammer, overpowering.

Good for them, they got a moron off the street. Good work by all.
I know what a hammer is and have used one.

I know what a paintball gun is, but have never used one.

I also know that one should be wearing eye protection for obvious reasons.

So, I can use a paintball gun in a poking stabbing motion and outdistance a hammer ... I can swing it and outdistance a hammer .... and, most importantly, if I "am a good shot, I can hit the hammer wielding attacker in the eyes with several paint balls in a split second .....

"Almost 60% of all injured persons >7 years were treated for paintball pellet wounds of which most were to the eye."

maybe the government should start a paintball gun registry
I think the carpenter hammer is the ultimate last resort sneak attack defence weapon if one knows how to grip one (no coincidence in design IMO).

That guy with the machete a few years ago wouldn't have had a chance. Ditto for any blade related attacker. The added bonus of a hammer is it can block any blade, stays close to your centre of gravity, and can be concealed. Most importantly a hammer can not be easily removed by an attacker and thus turned on you like the common baseball bat, knife, gun, or in this case a paintball gun if over you're overpowered with your own weapon. Protection of your own weapon is the most important thing if you're being attacked by a nut case, and you make the decision to use a weapon of your own in self defence. I think this guy knew his weapon when he used a hammer to detain the shooter.

As for the paint ball gun; all its going to do is piss the hammer guy off as he charges you with his eyes covered. If the target has a hammer, then this paint ball guy is going to be in some serious trouble.
