B.C.'s Provincial Finance Minister Carole Taylor says  the $11 milion dollars promised for the expansion of the Prince George Airport have already been included in the  provincial budget.

In a Q and A following  the  quarterly report update on the Province's economic outlook, Taylor  was pressed  by Opinion 250 about where the dollars  were for the  Airport expansion.   According to her, the  money has already been  budgeted in last February's budget , to be specific, it  is in the Transportation Ministry's  budget on page  37 of the February 2007  Budget.

Neither the Minister nor the  Finance Ministry experts on hand for the  media call were able to explain  why   the dollars have not yet been  delivered.

SAVING THE AIRPORT MONEY FOR ANOTHER ELECTION PROMISE... A$# H*LES!!!!! WOOPS.
This has been a much greater irritation for us in Prince George than the ruling folks in Victoria and the 604 realize! Hand it over officially NOW so that the work can finally begin!

Waiting for another photo-op is not necessary. Let's get on with it! You have been holding things up for far too long.

Whew!

I have to agree, how many times does it have to be milked.
HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPE VINE THAT THE CONTRACT HAS ALREADY BEEN LET FOR THE FIRST PHASE. ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING FURTHER ON THIS ?
Nope ... but I'll pass that on ... I love rumours...

;-)
"I have to agree, how many times does it have to be milked."

Every morning if you want it to keep producing ..... This is why the Liberals like rural BC .....

But the NDP sure changed their minds quickly ..... Maybe she saw a better chance at a seat for the NDP in PG with the new boundaries.

;-)
They really enjoy watching us grovel, then when they finally come through, they expect us to be eternally grateful. Because they are such great folks, right? Chester

I agree with the airport expansion, BUT before we hand over the money there is an issue I think the airport authority still has to answer for.

A few months back a long time regular contractor for the airport was caught filming girls in the public bathrooms and also the employee bathrooms. Apparently this guy had been filming women at the airport for over three years. He pleaded guilty to the airport and the airport DID NOT press charges trying to sweep it under the carpet as irrelevant.

A breach of the highest order in what they like to call an international airport and it is irrelevant to the current airports leadership?

A lot of employees have concerns about this, but fear they will have their red card pulled by airport management if they say anything even through their unions. The airlines don't want the publicity. The airport has recently removed red cards for trivial reasons in the name of security, but with a 3-year breach of the highest safety order and they can't deal with it appropriately?

The airport needs to be in communication with airport related employees and the flying public in how they intend to ensure criminal sex crime surveillance (internet?) charges are laid and knowledge can be learned to ensure a breach like that by a regular contractor never happens again.

Only then once they can show that they take their role in security seriously should the money go forward. It might be a good time at transition to also have another management team take it to the next level if they can’t deal with this IMO.
