Jago Appointed To Head Northern Health

The provincial government has appointed Dr. Charles Jago as the new chair of Northern Health.
“Dr. Jago brings a wealth of experience related to health and northern living to the Authority,” said Health Minister George Abbott. “His first-hand familiarity with health-care delivery across northern British Columbia and his track record of success in many past and present roles means residents will continue to have a proven leader at the helm of Northern Health. Our government greatly appreciates the outstanding commitment and leadership of Jeff Burghardt in his five years of service with the Northern Health Board and thanks him for his work.”
Dr. Jago was president of the University of Northern BC from 1995 to 2006. During his tenure, he provided leadership in the establishment of the Northern Medical Program, which was expressly designed to address the shortage of doctors in rural British Columbia. Dr. Jago Co-chaired a report with former Northern Health Head Jeff Burghardt on the feasibility of a cancer clinic in Prince George.
Agriculture Minister Pat Bell says he is ecstatic to hear that Jago has been appointed He accomplished many things during his time at UNBC and has always been a community leader , Bell said . ’It is an excellent choice ".
