The provincial government has appointed Dr. Charles Jago as the new chair of Northern Health.

“Dr. Jago brings a wealth of experience related to health and northern living to the Authority,” said Health Minister George Abbott. “His first-hand familiarity with health-care delivery across northern British Columbia and his track record of success in many past and present roles means residents will continue to have a proven leader at the helm of Northern Health. Our government greatly appreciates the outstanding commitment and leadership of Jeff Burghardt in his five years of service with the Northern Health Board and thanks him for his work.”

Dr. Jago was president of the University of Northern BC from 1995 to 2006. During his tenure, he provided leadership in the establishment of the Northern Medical Program, which was expressly designed to address the shortage of doctors in rural British Columbia. Dr. Jago Co-chaired a report with former Northern Health Head Jeff Burghardt on the feasibility of a cancer clinic in Prince George.

Agriculture Minister Pat Bell says he is ecstatic to hear that Jago has been appointed  He accomplished many things during his time at UNBC and has always been a community leader , Bell said . ’It is an excellent choice ".

"Dr. Jago Co-chaired a report with former Northern Health Head Jeff Burghardt on the feasibility of a cancer clinic in Prince George."

Does this mean we will be getting a cancer clinic shortly? Or will he now have to look at it from a different perspective?

Isn't Jago on the board of directors of Canfor... couldnt that be a conflict of interest as Canfor could be seen as contributing to the illness including Cancer in Prince George as a result of their emmissions?
Jago is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Canfor.
Peter Bently is Chairman of CANFOR.
The other directors are;

Ron Cliff, Michael Kornenberg, John Lapey,Jim Pattison, Donald Selman, James Shepard, and Thomas Tutsch, latest appointment.

Charles JAGO IS NOT ONE OF THEM...

board of CPLP? (pulp trust)
"Dr. Charles Jago serves on the Board of Directors for both 2010 Legacies Now and Partnerships BC. He is also chair of the Board of Directors for the Fraser Basin Council and Canfor Pulp Co. Ltd. Partnership. "

He also was chair of the Mayor's Task for on Air Quality .....
Isn't it striking that, with all the positions he has been appointed to, he isn't known for anything? He's never had an idea or initiated anything of significance. He is a safe appointment because he is one of the boys and won't rock the boat.
Interesting that he is on the board of Partnerships BC ( The decides what major public projects are a P3) and the new sports centre with his name on it was a P3 partnership that the University ended up providing the bulk of the funds for and he manages to get it named after himself.
It's not what you know, it's who you know.
So step up to the plate and do a better job then. Some of you are obviously superior. Less chat, more action please.
Bens right. Jago is the Chairman of the Board of Canfor Pulp Limited Partnership. Majority shareholder in the Partnership. Canfor.
