With the Premier in Prince George this Friday for the opening of the Northern Sport Centre, expect  an extra announcement.

A news conference has been set for the Airport at 3:00 Friday to  talk about infrastructure.

It is expected Premier Campbell will , at that time, announce the Province  has the $12 million dollars for the expansion of the runway.

That would be one third of the price tag associated with the cost of expanding the  runway to handle the larger cargo flights.  The Federal Government has already  said  it will put in one third.  The  Treasury Board has approved the expenditure but there is one statutory requirement yet to be  met before the cheque can be issued.

Wow! ...you mean Gordon Campbell is still alive?
He keeps such a low profile,I really thought he had died!
Funny how he only rears his ugly head when he thinks there is a good photo opp!
Don't you love the "BUT's" they manage to come up with.
We ahve the money "BUT"
And when Gordon Campbell does show up, you don't like it. Either way Andyfreeze, you are a hard man to please!

Do you think the Premier will announce the funding and hand over a check?
If he wants to get out of town with his skin,he had BETTER hand over the check!
But then,I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't.
And now that you mention it Yama,I DON'T like it when he shows up anywhere.
He only appears if it is a big photo opp.
The rest of the time he just sends a servant.
I also find myself gagging a lot whenever he speaks!
Just don't let him near the bar!!
Cheers!
:-)
You people are all in a big hurry to spend $33Million on a piece of Cement that may never be used.

Dont forget this so called **Plan** is based over a 20 year period, with the **hope** that they can attract 3 or 4 wide body Cargo Jets to land here either coming from or going to Asia, on a daily basis. This at best is a long shot.

If it does materialize the only ones to benefit will be the Airlines, and Oil Companies, and of course the local Construction people. Very few jobs over 20 years.

$33 Million would look pretty good going into tree planting, or some other venture that had more of a gaurantee of some sort of return.

Statements like. **We hope to** are not very reassuring.
"And when Gordon Campbell does show up, you don't like it. Either way Andyfreeze, you are a hard man to please!"

The only way to please Andy would be if Jimmy Pattison would give Glen Clarke some time off to come to Prince George and try to b.s. everyone like in the good old glory days!

Read today's Strachan opinion in the Citizen if you want to know about *servants* and weep.

Cheers!
There is very little I like about B.C.politics period!
Unfortunately for the people of B.C.,our political system is set up to control and manipulate the ballot box.
Nothing new there I suppose!
It has nothing to do with getting elected or re-elected because you did a great job,but more to do with creating a power base that can't be broken barring a major political faux pas.
(can you say "Glen Clark/Fast Ferries?")
I wouldn't cross the road for Carole James and the NDP OR Gordon Campbell and his gang of spineless lackies.
Nobody else is even worth mentioning.
And that is the sad part about B.C.politics and politics in general I suppose.
The lack of choices.
And Strachan is correct(I hate having to agree with him..ewww!) when he says that after a candidate busts their butt to get elected, they are basically powerless to even offer an opinion.
The party leader and the backroom gang make all those decisions and the people of B.C. are the losers.
Anyone who may have been good at the job gets neutered.
Leaders also take all the credit and glory.
Campbell is NOT a great leader. He is very much disliked within his own party for his dictatorial managment style and that was true even as mayor of Vancouver.
He also forgets that he got elected because of the NDP screw ups and not because of his popularity OR his brains.
He has some pretty sharp people to do his thinking for him.
He is still there because of his tyranical leadership style and the lack of choices for the voters.
The liberals take credit for the economic boom in B.C.when in fact,it really has very little to do with them.
Right place,right time.
The Olympics will take care of that train of thought after the cost overuns are exposed and we see how long it will take to pay for it.
When the fat lady sings, she will sing loud.
So now we have a anther great photo opp and the rabbit comes out of the hole.
Big deal.
Then it will be back underground as fast as he can.
He knows that if you expose yourself for to long, the tide will turn.
That's called politics I guess.
(but hey,I DO hope he brings money!)
