This  is a “Huge,  Good Day “ that’s the way one of the original proponents of a Cancer Clinic for the north described Premier Campbell’s announcement that a new Clinic will be built in Prince George to serve the north by 2012.
Dr Bert Kelly, who in many ways initiated the charge,  and has led it for the past six years,  said today, was a momentous occasion for all of us who live in the north.
This is part of The Northern Medical Society’s efforts to make this City,  the Center of excellence in Health Care.

This is wonderful news. Even the Liberals can't be total zero's all the time. Thanks to all those who helped make this happen. Now if we could only address the root causes of our high cancer rates so that in the future we will make this centre unnecessary. Lets start cutting down on allowing our industries spewing of pollutants as a solid one two punch against the cancer situation. Prevention is always better than band-aid solutions.
"Even the Liberals can't be total zero's all the time."

Nasty stuff, totally uncalled for, sad. Some people just like to wallow continuously in negative thoughts which aren't good for the health of body and mind.

Do we have an election comming up soon?
Lets hope there is more action than talk with this....
Premier Commits to Build Northern Cancer Centre

A new cancer centre will be built in Prince George as part of a multifaceted strategy to ensure northern British Columbians receive the best possible cancer care, announced Premier Gordon Campbell.

* A new cancer centre in the North will be attached to Prince George Regional Hospital and will include radiation therapy and the addition of a cancer lodge to support patients and their families with accommodations.
* The strategy includes increased training and support for northern physicians on cancer control, including access to BC Cancer Agency resources through outreach and telehealth services.
* Development of the strategy will cost approximately $100 million, which includes the new centre, renovations to PGRH, radiation and diagnostic equipment and expansion of the oncology services throughout the north.
Dr. Bert Kelly should be "Citizen of the Year". He was organizer of the huge Health Rally we had a few years back on the old Fair grounds.

I admire you Dr. Bert Kelly and am so pleased that you chose our City to live in.
Foo738 Dr Kelly did NOT organize the health care rally....there were at least a dozen individuals who pitched together to make that happen...he was just one of many, a vocal one, but one of many.
Thanks trueblue2, I was aware that there were other organizers but am impressed that he just keeps on going!
