Prince George –Peace River MP and Government whip Jay Hill says today’s announcement of the funding for the Prince George Airport  sets the stage for Prince George to become ,”The Super Highway Of The Sky”.
Anchorage Alaska is our big competitor Hill said, ‘they are however becoming very congested and we are entering into the field at the right time. Purolator and people like Fed-ex are beginning to hear what we are all about.
In the immediate future we will concentrate on moving cargo, but I believe there is an excellent opportunity to move passengers down the road.
A lot of people worked on this project and they all should be proud today, Hill said .
Speaking about the announced Cancer Clinic for the North to be built in Prince George, Hill said that Cancer has touched the lives of every single family in Canada; I for one  am very supportive for the need for such a facility.

Time to celebrate....Do we realize how far up the food chain the events of today are going to put us on the Provincial and National level.

This day rates with the medical rally a few years ago.

A defining day in the Region.
"A defining day in the Region."

Here, here!
Now that Mr. Hill has said it, I am extremely confident in the success of the venture.

Of course, how PG can become the Super Highway is beyond me since highways are links between two or more nodes or ports in this case.

So, more properly stated in my view, PG will become a port on the existing superhighway of the sky. We will be accessible whereas we have limited accessibility at the moment.
Hill: "...In the immediate future we will concentrate on moving cargo..."

*We*? He must have had a mouse in his pocket when he said that.

It's the airport which did all the footwork and it is the airport which will be doing the work.

Hill: "I for one am very supportive for the need for such a facility."

Who wouldn't be? Show us the money.
This announcement should put the negative people of this project on the spot
You guys beleive all the crap you read. On a Monday you will say that Gordon Campbell and his collegues, Bell, Bond, Rustad, Hill, Harris, are a bunch of over paid idiots, and on a Friday you will beleive everything these guys feed you and you run around dancing and skipping and pretending you know what you are talking about.

I notice that most people on these posts avoid FACTS as much as they would avoid the Black Plague, Aids, or Rabies.

FedEx is already on record as stating that even if this Airport Expansion is built they would not locate in Prince George. Karen Cooper spokesperson for FedExs Canadian Operations. Quote **From where we are now for logistics and capacity, FedEx goes via Anchorage, there is no intention of switching. It seems a bit of a stretch for us.** Pr Geo Citizen Dec. 13/05 Seems you beleive Hill but not the person who works for FedEx.

The Airport Authority, Politician, and others of their **ilk** keep saying that Anchorage is **congested** these statement are not based any decerniable facts that I can locate, and in fact even if they were congested what do you think they would do.

I guess this is your scenario. Prince George says Anchorage Airport is congested, so we are going to expand our Airport and get some of this business. We must do this right away to ensure that other Airports dont beat us to the punch.

In the meantime Anchorage hears that we are going after 12% of the smaller Cargo flights that goes through Anchorage. (This amounts to approx 4 flights per day) and they fall to their knees kicking and crying. **We are doomed** Prince George is after our business. What can we do. This is more that we can bear. They run around in circles pulling out thier hair wishing that they had never got into the Airline business.

But wait'. If we really are congested (which they are not) we can build another runway, and we will be able to handle any increase in traffic for the next 20 years.

But what of Prince George?? Prince who?
OH YEAH palopu..you are right. There's another election soon and they are tossing around money to buy the votes. If it really was their money, I'll bet their purse strings would be alot tighter. But its our hard earned tax dollars they are flinging around to appease us and make them look like they walk on water.
2012 is a long way off. They can promise us anything, change the deal, pospone the deal or cancel the deal depending on the economy, the election or any other excuse that may be appropriate.

But, if we focus on the announcement and the amount of people this will benefit, this is a great announcement for anyone in this region dealing with the financial burden of cancer treatment elsewhere. It's about time. Chester
I dont have any problem with the Cancer Clinic, however I am waiting to see what it actually entails. The $100 Million dollars is for Cancer projects in the Northwest of British Columbia, not just for the clinic. So what in fact are actually getting.????

The number that really caught my eye is the statement by the Premier that there will be 20,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed in 2008 in the Northwestern Interior. Why is that?? To me, this is the real story. Not the clinic but the cause of the need for a clinic.
Piss and Moan, oh whoa is me...put on your tin foil hat, wash your hands for the 500th time and go back to your mothers basement.

What is it with you? The ones who post constantly, you know who you are, the ones who actively look for a way to bring readers down. There are times when we need to hold people accountable for their actions, public servant or not, I hope this is that time. I challenge you to quite calling the glass half empty, maybe a little hope isn't such a bad thing? Yes, like most of you I've lost loved ones to cancer, I'll take all the hope I can get damn you! Yes I, like most of you have a vested interest in seeing our community survive and maybe for a brief period of time thrive, here's hoping the airport will help with that.

It would seem that no matter what the story, at least one of you will find the negative vein behind it and exploit it. Now, when I read a story, I feel I have to stop at the end, as it's only a half a mouse wheel scroll away from some "informed reader" who's dead-set and determined to ruin any possible good that the story had in the first place. Yah, we get it, you're smart, you spend your time pointing out grammatical errors and the short comings of local politicians and citizens, you truly are quite threatening. But you know what? I'll applaud this action IF it gets results, but you don't DO anything.

Congratulations on knowing the short strokes of this city/regions day to day operation, run for mayor...if you're as smart as you'd like the rest of us to think you are, we'll vote for you! Although, I know some of you personally, and the idea of checking your name off on a ballot makes me wretch. Alas, this has nothing to do with airports now does it...

Also note, that this isn't a blanket opinion of all active posters
Gonefishing: Thank God for your comments. Thank you. I completely agree. The "sky is falling" people are getting to be a real bore. No point in even trying to argue, as once a person has obtained their SELECTIVE facts & figures, their perception becomes their reality, and it's best just to let them whine and complain and talk about how awful everything is, and how terrible it's going to be in the future; while the rest of us get on with making this a better city for the future.
Palopu: It could be that we're not all as stupid as you think we are, and just because some of us don't write lengthy diatribes on this site, it could also be true that you're not as informed as you think you are.
