Prince George, B.C. - The Shool District 57 Board has passed all three readings of the Capital Project bylaw to clear the way for construction to start at College Heights Secondary.
The project will cost just over $5 million and will see the highschool get a new music room, new multi purpose room and an expanded library.
The School District raised the money through the sale of out-of-commission school properties and local capital funds. Trustee Lois Boone wanted that point on the record "I think its important that people know this project is not being funded by the Province, it is being entirely financed through the sale of our excess properties."
Trustee Bill Christie wanted to make sure the public is aware is has taken the Province 5 years to approve a project the Board had initially proposed in 2002.
The construction plans have been on the District’s capital plan wish list for nearly 2 decades.
The proposed addition (825m²) and renovated space will be ready in time for the September 2008 school year, construction will start as soon as the tendering process has been completed.
