Red Cross Thanks Wal-Mart

During its recent Canadian fundraising campaign, Wal-Mart stores across Northern BC raised more than $22,400 to support local disaster response through the Canadian Red Cross.  Over half of this amount was donated at the tills by Wal-Mart customers and then matching funds were donated by Wal-Mart Canada.  So far this year, Wal-Mart stores Canada-wide have raised and contributed a record $1.4 million in cash and in-kind donations to help support local disaster relief for Canadians in need.  The Canadian Red Cross would like to thank Wal-Mart and its customers and suppliers for their generous donations and support to such a worthy cause.
Wal-Mart  is the leadeing corporate sponsor for the Canadian Red Cross.  Its stores held special events during the annual fundraising campaign, including donations at the registers, hosting in-store charity drives and teaming up with suppliers to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross.
“We are very thankful to people right across Northern BC for their generosity and to Wal-Mart for making this campaign a success,” says Chris Bone, Regional Director of the Canadian Red Cross.  “Funds raised will help us help the community when a disaster strikes.”
