The road known as the “Cranberry Connector” is in for some upgrades.

The road gained provincial attention last spring when a major slide across Highway 16 east of Terrace shut off the communities  that were to the west of that slide.

Although not recommended by the Ministry of Transportation, there were plenty of people who used the “Cranberry Connector” to get from one side of the slide to the other.  The“ Cranberry  Connector” is  a  55 kilometre stretch of single lane logging road  that connects the Nass Valley with Highway 37 north of  Kitwanga. The road is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Forests and Range and that Ministry just got $200 thousand dollars from the Ministry of Transportation to upgrade the “connector”.

The Ministry of Forests and Range will decide how best to use the dollars to improve the road.

The Ministry of Transportation also undertook road improvements to maintain access to the Cranberry Connector over the spring and summer, through a $70,000 grant from the Provincial Emergency Program.

Good idea!
They should also upgrade the back road from Mckenzie to Fort.St.James as well.
It is a great drive and would save considerable time if a person was heading from up north to the west of Vanderhoof or Prince Rupert.
It is always good to have alternate routes, and upgrading of the general highway infrastructure should be on- going, not just before an election!
I'd like to see the Walker FSR connected up with Grand Prairie.
Yama...I am not familiar with the Walker FSR.
Sounds interesting.
Where is it?
