Police Call Off Pursuit Of Stolen Truck

Police called off a chase for a stolen Dodge pick up last night when they feared for the safety of the public.

The chase was in full swing shortly after 8:00 pm. In the area of CNC, Spruceland and the nearby residential areas of 15th with several police cruisers closing in when it became apparent that the driver of the stolen 1996 Dodge Ram truck, began driving erratically.  A police spokesman said today "We will not risk life or limb in order to apprehend a stolen vehicle , there is just too much of a risk that someone might step off the curb or go through a green light and be hit , so we call off the chase unless it is a life threatening situation. "

At the same time as the police were trying to corner the driver of the truck,  a 2004 Red Olds was stolen from the parking lot of Moxies while  the owners sat inside having dinner.

There has been a rash of stolen vehicles in the city in the past few days.

Common you guys, use the spike strip, get the eye in the sky, shoot at the bastards, I have no faith in the RCMP and the canadain justice system. No wonder why criminals get away with this shit! its because they can and they know they can.

Shot at them? Now you're just being silly.
I remember an incident in 69 police shot at the wrong vehicle after a robbery. The truck went through a few fences before stopping because the passengers including the driver ducked under the dash.
Don't be a dork. They made the right call.
If they did it once, they will do it again. They will be caught eventually. The prudent thing to do is make sure no additional threat to lives are incurred in the process of apprehending them. They did the right thing in my opinion.

Imagine the flack the RCMP would recieve if they smashed up one of their cruisers or one of their officers was injured or even an innocent person injured in the process of chasing these losers. Chester
