Prince George, B.C. - Coroner Scott Fleming will complete his summation to the jury this morning at the inquest into the death of Savannah Hall.
Yesterday, the inquest heard from the RCMP who said there wasn't enough evidence to lay any charges in the death of the three year old. The jury also heard from the first responders to the scene.
The three year old died two days after being rushed to Prince George Regional Hospital in January of 2001. While the pathologist has declared she died of brain swelling, there are conflicting theories on how that happened.
Three of the four Doctors who testified over the ten days, agree that Savannah could have had a seizure, vomited, aspirated, and the lack of oxygen caused the brain swelling. One Doctor though says he beleives the little girl was suffocated.

Again, Justice Institute standards require only 65 days training before a cop can intern with a police service (Training as a lawyer takes over 600 days; training as a security guard takes 10 days). Cops are barely amateurs in public safety; characterizing their work product with professional credentials is perverse. Cops deliver work product of 1 conviction per unit per month, and cause incarceration of 1 convict per unit per year (Canadawide average). Cops creatively unfound as many as 19 out of every 20 substantiable crime complaints. Comparing policing to waste pickup, one would have to say that delivered protective servitude is equivalent of garbage collecters acting as litterers.
As for coroners, they train directly with cops, viz Crime Scene investigations and forensic evidence gathering. Thus, a cop can train as a coroner in 13 weeks; others can become one after 20 weeks in class.
The offices of coroner and police service as parasitic entities, void of public purpose. Because the public is conditioned to perceive otherwise, we continue to burn money on junk work. Coroners and cops should be charged with fraud every time they take a pay cheque.
